Our Story

How it all started...

In the early 1950’s, the M-46 Tabernacle was started by Rev. and Mrs. Charles Allen in the ‘block schoolhouse,’ located on the corner of M-46 and Douglas Road. In 1955, Rev. Jack and Jackie Skirvin were asked to be the new pastors. The cinder block walls were laid for the present church auditorium. The Michigan District Pentecostal Church of God, under the leadership of A.W. Thomas, were helpful in building the trusses and roof. It was then possible to have service in the front (foyer) part of the present church building.

Expanding the vision...

Pastor Dan and Barb Skirvin and their family were a part of the M-46 Tabernacle for many years.   Dan started as a preacher’s son and blossomed into a young man following his father’s footsteps.  Pastor Dan saw many souls come to know the Lord while doing God’s work.  He worked with the Youth Group, Bus on Fire Kids Ministry, and the Worship Ministry.

Where we are headed...

In 2015, Pastor Dan Skirvin stepped into the role as Bishop of the Pentecostal Church of God in Michigan. At that time, the church began looking for a new pastor. When Bob and Susan Menzel put in their résumé, they were asked to come and try out. Dec. 2015, they were announced as the new senior pastors. Menzel’s previously served as local youth pastors for 11 1/2 years in Saginaw, Michigan and District Youth Directors for the Pentecostal Church of God for almost 12 years. Menzel's have served at M-46 Tabernacle Family Ministries for 7 years. 2023 marks a monumental achievement for this ministry. 70 years!!!
